2021: A Year in Review

As we wrap up on what simultaneously feels like the longest and shortest year ever, we look back on how 2021 treated Credfin. The past 12 months saw many pinnacle moments, not only in this company but also in Australia’s financial sector.

Open Banking, CDR and FData

2021 was the year Open Banking really entered mainstream conversations. Open Banking and the Consumer Data Right continue to be moulded and shaped, ready for a release in early 2022. Many fintechs, including Credfin, are gearing up for an exciting and busy next couple of months. With our CDR accreditation in the works it’s safe to say we are keen for Open Banking to shake up this industry.

In other news, Credfin was thrilled to receive the FDATA award for “Best use of Open Banking in consumer credit/lending offerings” in the Global FData Open Finance awards. This award puts Credfin on the map and we are ready for the journey this win will provide us. We will continue to improve our use of Open Banking and CDR in Australia with our vision of seamless user experiences and real-time lending that use Credfin insights and metrics to power financial decisions and give consumers real options.

This year has seen many meetings and collaborations with FDATA, a global non-for-profit organisation for fintechs like us leading the charge in Open Finance. Being a member of FDATA and having two of our team members on different boards has been extremely advantageous, as we receive the most up-to-date information around Open Finance, and have the opportunity to work alongside the ACCC and policy makers.

Inside Credfin

Like a good kombucha, 2021 has been a fantastic year for the guts of this company. We partnered with Cloudcheck, bringing us the best of the best identity matching systems to assist in anti-fraud. We also acquired Squarepay which provides us the ability to seamlessly process payments.

The Credfin team is growing by the second. Not only did we acquire the intelligence of Squarepay CEO, Brent Wardlaw, we have also doubled the developer team and formed a dedicated marketing team. We are excited to see the talent our new recruits will bring to the table.

The Community

Credfin is honoured to be one of the sponsors for The Gap Football Club, specifically the Under 16 WNPL team. Supporting a local team means a lot to us at Credfin and we are excited to see their progress in this coming season.

What’s in store for 2022

The team here at Credfin are not only reflecting on a watershed year in the history of Credfin, but we are also looking forward to making even more moves in 2022.

Alongside integrating additional seamless products into our ecosystem, Credfin is planning to extend our services internationally, looking specifically at the markets in New Zealand and South Africa. We will also be nominating for various other awards and furthering our involvement in the fintech landscape.

Thanks for sticking by us this year and we look forward to making the most of the next 12 months.
